Connect with Your Qi!
A great way to connect with your qi and give your qi a little boost is to doย this simple meditation exercise.
The best way to do this is to lay on your back on a yoga mat, your bed, or couch. You can do this exercise in the sitting positions, just so long asย you are comfortable.
Begin by taking a few deep breaths, paying attention to your breathe and you will drop into your body
๐๐๐
or twitch as they release any tension)
๐๐๐
Move your attention to the arch of your foot and into the ankle. Often when I
do this I spontaneously stretch my whole foot, releasing tension
held in the arch of my foot
๐๐๐
Then, gradually move your focus onto your lower leg and up to your knee, once again consciously release any tension. Continue to breath deeply as the
tension releases from your lower legs and knees
๐๐๐
From there, move up to you hips and pelvis. By this time you are interacting
with the qi in your body, allowing it to move and release, which is going
remove any blockages (stagnation), leading to a
relaxed body and mind
๐๐๐
From your hips and pelvis move through your abdomen, to your
diaphragm (ribs), this is where you can feel your breathing releasing tension
๐๐๐
From here move up into your shoulders. Typically there is a lot of tension here,
and you may linger here longer as the shoulders release the tension
๐๐๐
Drop your focus down onto your arms, wrists and hand. Like the feet,
when I focus on my wrists and hands I stretch, and flex my hands, releasing the tension - they work hard for us!
๐๐๐
From your hands travel back up your arms, into the shoulders and
into the neck - another area that holds a lot of tension, maybe stretch your neck from side to side, before moving up to your face and jaw
๐๐๐
Continue to breathe and youโll feel your jaw and brow relax, go all the way up to the crown of your head. Here it is helpful to visualize all the tension
flowing down and out of your body through
your fingertips and toes
๐๐๐
Stayย here for a few minutes, continuing to breathe before bringing
yourself back to the present moment
